Turkey has closed its airspace to Israeli military flights following a deadly raid on a Gaza-bound aid ship, the Turkish prime minister and officials said Monday. The Honolulu Star-Bulletin and The Honolulu Advertiser have competed to chronicle Hawaii for more than a century. That rivalry ends Sunday when the Advertiser, Hawaii's largest newspaper, publishes its last edition. It's being bought out and combined with its smaller rival. Bay Bridge closed after rod snaps, cars hit

Authorities said they are shutting down the Bay Bridge in both directions after pieces of the cantilever section fell during the late-afternoon commute, striking three vehicles on the upper deck, the California Highway Patrol said. Caltrans officials said the parts that fell were two high-strength rods and a saddle that were part of the emergency repair that delayed the opening of the bridge on Labor Day weekend.

CBS Profit Plunges 96% as Ad Slump Continues

CBS Corp.'s second-quarter profit sank 96% on lower ad sales and one-time gain, but the media giant cited early signs of a recovery. "As we anticipated, early signs of a recovery took hold in the second quarter," with results better than the first quarter, said Chief Executive Les Moonves.
